Dances with Kimchi

Ok ok...so here I am after about a week and a half here...almost 2 weeks. The stories will come--and man do I have some--but first here's just a look at the area and school. This place is another world. My high school is about 40 minutes outside of the city in sort of a rural area...it's surrounded by tree-ey hills and rice fields. It really is beautiful out here and not really much pollution. Much less than I expected...Busan is on the coast and so has a really nice breeze that cleans the air. And besides Busan isn't the industrial powerhouse of S. Korea. My school itself is just about 10 minutes from the coast. So it's beautiful here, but it's going to take time to get used to the school beatings and drinking too much fermented soy milk with the teachers during lunch time. More on that later.

Here's front of the school...the flag flying high.

And here are the rice fields just outside the school gates...

See? It's a real beach!
This is school from down the hill a little bit...it's a really really green area. Green.
Here's another view from the school campus. More fields...
And here's Jared's apartment...I'm staying on his couch until I get my first paycheck and can get my own. Probably next week...
Rainbow landing on my Korean Air flight to Seoul. Good sign?

My flight from Seoul to Busan was cancelled so I had to get the cheapest hotel I could to spend the night. As I pulled into my room I realized that it was what is called here a "love motel." Use your imagination. There was a sex-toy vending machine outside my door and porn VHS tapes in the room. And it was noisy in the hotel. Again, use your imagination.

And...me! On one of my first days wandering around, exploring the beach area...

So, stay tuned for more stories to come! And sorry the comments don't line up with the photos...I'm still trying to figure out how to use this thing right. But you can probably figure it out...

The "love motel." Haha! What an adventure. I love hearing about all of them...it feels like just yesterday, we were doing this same kind of exploring with you. I miss it a ton! Keep writing so I can pretend we're there with you! The pictures are awesome too!

Any chance you're going to update us soon? I am feeling very anxious at the moment and am looking to the internet to distract me. Would have been fun to read more about your Korean adventures. :-)

Hey, are you alive? How's S. Korea?

Well I think it's my turn again. How are you? How is Korea? How is Christina? Please update us, just so we know that you haven't been taken hostage at the love motel...

Hi. I never talk with you anymore. Looks like you're having heaps of adventures. I hope since it's been so long that your adventures haven't been scarily over exciting. So, hope you're good. Take care.
