Dances with Kimchi

Ok ok...so here I am after about a week and a half here...almost 2 weeks. The stories will come--and man do I have some--but first here's just a look at the area and school. This place is another world. My high school is about 40 minutes outside of the city in sort of a rural area...it's surrounded by tree-ey hills and rice fields. It really is beautiful out here and not really much pollution. Much less than I expected...Busan is on the coast and so has a really nice breeze that cleans the air. And besides Busan isn't the industrial powerhouse of S. Korea. My school itself is just about 10 minutes from the coast. So it's beautiful here, but it's going to take time to get used to the school beatings and drinking too much fermented soy milk with the teachers during lunch time. More on that later.

Here's front of the school...the flag flying high.

And here are the rice fields just outside the school gates...

See? It's a real beach!
This is school from down the hill a little bit...it's a really really green area. Green.
Here's another view from the school campus. More fields...
And here's Jared's apartment...I'm staying on his couch until I get my first paycheck and can get my own. Probably next week...
Rainbow landing on my Korean Air flight to Seoul. Good sign?

My flight from Seoul to Busan was cancelled so I had to get the cheapest hotel I could to spend the night. As I pulled into my room I realized that it was what is called here a "love motel." Use your imagination. There was a sex-toy vending machine outside my door and porn VHS tapes in the room. And it was noisy in the hotel. Again, use your imagination.

And...me! On one of my first days wandering around, exploring the beach area...

So, stay tuned for more stories to come! And sorry the comments don't line up with the photos...I'm still trying to figure out how to use this thing right. But you can probably figure it out...

Final weeks of Graz

Da ist die Stina...
Ok I'll put up some pictures from my final weeks in Graz. Most of these are from a walk Christina and I took on one of the first warm, sunny days of Spring. Also included is a meandering through the market...

Pink, pink, pink, pink...pink moon.

Ah the market...fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, cheese, meats, B.O., etc....
That's a whole lotta radishes. A radish wall, if you will.

Christina's photos kick ASS.

So, I'm glad that I got a chance to see Spring here in Graz. Man that was one...long...winter. Long. Not as long as that new King Kong movie I just saw, but long. As a witness to all four seasons, I have to say that this is one beautiful city. Someday I'll tell ya what the people are like. Heh...

Well well well...testing, testing. Just trying to get this thing up and running before I head out to Korea...
